Shawn grew up in White Salmon, Washington before joining the US Army out of high school.
While serving our nation in the Gulf War, he married Vera Brumfield and had three beautiful children: Amanda, Christopher and Erik.
After leaving the service and attending college, he later remarried Kelly Lee and had a fourth child, Kaden. He worked as a manufacturing engineer and then as an electrician. As an avid student of military history, he was intrigued by the supernatural and was a dedicated sports fan.
Shawn spent most of his free time with family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Olander Woodbury, grandmother, Cherise Olander, and lifelong best friend, Bryce Mercereau.
He is survived by his father, Norm Woodbury, his two brothers, Mike and Troy, his children, his grandchildren, Landyn, Ellie, Emma and Owen and his loving wife, Kelly. He is currently absent without leave from this life, likely spending time with his grandmother, mother and beloved dog, Maggie, in the great beyond answering the question of whether ghosts are real or not.
While Shawn was a naturally shy person, Shawn had the ability to make everyone he encountered a friend, family or barista, feel seen and heard. He was someone you could count on and was impossible to win an argument due to his logical and strategic thinking.
He loved puzzles and reading everything from history to thrillers and horror stories. He enjoyed watching sports with his sons and was a supporter of women’s softball and soccer. He enjoyed the Little Rascals, Scooby Doo, Peanuts and had an abiding affection for Homer Simpson.
His humor, his love, his mind, will all be greatly missed by everyone including his beloved Maine Coon, Magnus, family, honor, and country
Shawn
