Tay Lee Robbins, 86 of Damascus Oregon, passed on Monday, April 22, 2019. He was born on August 2, 1932 in Myrtle Point, Oregon to Truman and Theckla (Moll) Robbins. Together with his twin brothers Don and Ron, they worked on the family farm. Tay served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Tay married Beverly Dhone on August 20, 1960 in Reno, Nevada. Beverly preceded Tay in death on November 8, 2014.
Tay worked for Firestone and Northwest Retreaders as a Tire man. For most of his career he worked for Portland General Electric in the garage as a Tire man and before retiring as a Lamp replacer. He also owned his own tire business.
Tay enjoyed fixing up and selling cars, going to car shows, riding motorcycles, hunting and target shooting. He was also a member of the Elks Organization.
Tay is survived by his four daughters; Susan Mutschler (Robert) of Portland, Oregon, Shelley Grimsrud (Matthew) of Hillsboro, Oregon, Shari Robbins (Marc Dickinson) of Wood Village, Oregon and Sarah Tscheu (Jeff) of Damascus, Oregon. Tay is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Brandon Mutschler, Courtney Mutschler, Kaycee Sargent, Rachel Leos-Gutierrez, Jake Grimsrud, Candice Sharp, Amanda Krieger, Christopher Krieger, Taylor Tscheu and Caitlyn Tscheu plus his 9 great grandchildren, Ava Mutschler, Mason Mutschler, Shayla Sharp, Jordan Sharp, Brooklynn Grimsrud, Maverick Grimsrud, Logan Leos-Gutierrez, Awnicka Floyd and Levi Krieger.
Tay was preceded in death by his Father Truman Robbins in 1976, his Mother Theckla Robbins in 1996, brothers Don Robbins in 1992 and Ron Robbins in 2015.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home located at 520 W. Powell Blvd., in Gresham, Oregon. Private interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Donations may be made as contributions to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
