William “Bill” George Schnibbe, age 90, passed away on April 12, 2019, in Gresham, Oregon. He was born on January 31, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York, to Fredrick and Johanna (Maier) Schnibbe. He was one of four children. He attended Greater New York Academy, and graduated in 1947.
On February 13, 1949, Bill married his wife, Freda. They had four children, LaJean, Jo, Warren and Kathy. Freda passed on January of 2005.
Bill met his second wife, Marge, after he moved to The Village, a retirement community in Gresham, Oregon. They were married on May 22, 2011, and he preceded her in passing.
Bill worked as a Bookkeeper until he retired. He was a dedicated family man, and he especially enjoyed playing baseball with his grandchildren, and watching all of their sporting events. Bill lived and breathed sports (especially baseball)! He loved singing with various ensembles. He was also the “official” family photographer, and the portraits that he took will be treasured by his family. He was a friendly, helpful and outgoing man who lived life to the fullest. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor and the love that he had for his family.
Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Freda; his parents, and his sister, Viola Drum. He is survived by his wife, Marge Baker Schnibbe; children, LaJean Ford (Larry), Jo Marocco (Nick), Warren Schnibbe (Sandy) and Kathy Cox (Roger); brothers, Fred Schnibbe (Verona) and Richard Schnibbe (Ann); 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, with viewing 1 hour prior to the service. Bill will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham, Oregon.
