

William Elmo “Bill” Swanson, 69 of Damascus OR, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. He was born on April 17, 1945 in Portland, Oregon to Norman and Albertine (Spaulding) Swanson. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1963 and received his Bachelor of Arts from Gonzaga University in 1968. Bill was in the US Army and served in South Korea in the DMZ as an MP from 1968 to 1970. He worked as a CPA for 30 years and was the head of WESCO Real Estate for 35 years until 2010. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge #1891. Bill was an active runner and gardener. He loved motorcycle riding, playing Poker and raised a variety of animals over the years.
He is survived by his brothers Norm Swanson of West Linn OR and Jerry Swanson (Terri) of Port Townsend WA; sisters Marie Goins (Ralph) of Sandy OR and Linda DeClerck (Richard) of West Linn OR; stepmother Dena Swanson of Beaverton OR; stepsisters Sandra Brock (Joe) of Beaverton OR, Jo Woodward (Wes) of Wallowa OR and Debbie Stout (Rex) of Rainier OR; many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the home of Linda and Richard DeClerck’s, 4145 Rose Park Drive, West Linn OR 97068. Private interment with military honors were held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Contributions may be made as donations to the Oregon Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon.
