Mrs. McDaniel was born in Greenville, SC, on May 7, 1926, to the late Frank C. and Grace Cox Matteson. She also was preceded in death by her husband, L. Norman McDaniel, and a granddaughter, Lisa Meredith Leopard.
She will be remembered for her warm smile and as a loving Mother, Grandmother, and friend who spent her life as one who always gave to others. Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. She was a loyal and active member of Sans Souci Baptist Church, Greenville, SC, Ravenwood Baptist Church, Columbia, SC, and Southside Baptist Church, Griffin, GA. She truly lived the life that Jesus Christ taught – loving and giving unconditionally, never judging others, and sharing her Christian faith in all of her deeds and actions. We ask that if your mother remains with you today, please visit, call, or write her to insure that she knows your love for her. Our Mother knew our love and we always knew and felt her love. That knowledge makes the parting much more bearable.
She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Lara & Bill Douglass of Austin, TX, and Cathy & Wayne Gardner of Griffin, GA, four grandchildren and their spouses, Matt & Violet Leopard of Houston, TX, Greg & Arisbe Gardner of Washington, DC, Mary Melissa Gardner of Washington, DC, and Spencer Douglass of Austin, TX, one great granddaughter, Kristin Leopard of Houston, TX, one sister, June Wagner of Greenville, SC, numerous nieces and nephews, and her lifelong friend, Beverly Center of Atlanta, GA.
