
Mr. Fields was a lifelong resident of Spalding County and the son of the late William Dudley Fields, Sr. and the late Amy Carver Fields. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the South Pacific in WWII. He then worked at Thomaston Mills (Griffin Division) until retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Griffin and the Bramblett Sunday School Class. Mr. Fields was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sibley Fields and brothers, Dudley, Jack and T.J.
Survivors include his daughter & son-in-law, Diane and Larry Andrus of Sandy Springs; granddaughter, Karen and her husband Lawrence Logan Durisch; great-grandson, Logan Carver Durisch; great-granddaughter, Sibley Elizabeth Durisch all of Decatur; sister & brother-in-law, Marian and Lamar Downs of Athens and many beloved nieces, nephews their children and grandchildren.
Cryptside funeral services for Mr. John Carver Fields will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Oak Hill Mausoleum. Rev. Brian McCartney will officiate. Friends and family are asked to assemble at the cryptside.
In lieu of flowers, those who prefer may make a contribution to the Griffin First Baptist Church Building Fund, 106 W. Taylor St., Griffin, GA 30223 in memory of Mr. Fields.
