

Ms. Bailey was born May 13, 1931, in Griffin to the late Robert Edwin Battle and the late Rebecca Floyd Battle. She was a member of First Christian Church and retired from Bell South as a Directory Assistance Operator. Ms. Bailey was a member of the Spalding County Democratic Party, Spalding County Planning Commission, Secretary of Communication Workers of America and Telephone Pioneers serving on many projects including ones at Moore Elementary, Futral Road, and East Griffin School teaching Junior Achievement. Ms. Bailey also served as PTA President at West Griffin School during her children’s early years and was a Girl Scout leader for several years. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Bailey Clark; sister, Connie Cain and grandson, Brian Lee Morris.
Survivors include daughters & sons-in-law, Beckie & Bill Morris, Vicki & Eric Watts, John F. Clark, Jr.; grandchildren, Joy & Steven Meyer, Elizabeth Morris; great-grandchildren, Andruw Meyer, Ava Meyer, and brother & sister-in-law, Glenn & Lis Battle. Nieces, nephews and other family also survive.
Funeral services for Ms. Mary Janet Battle Bailey will be held Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Killingsworth will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
