Mr. Robert "R.L." Butler

Mr. Butler was born March 3, 1924 in Hampton, Ga. He was the son of the late John S. and Lena Atchinson Butler. He was the owner and operator of several service stations over many years where he was known for his kindness and whit. After retirement, Mr. Butler joined the staff of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home where he served 17 years until he retired in 2009. He was a faithful member of the Damascus Christian Church for over 61 years where he served as deacon, official church board member, and within other areas in the church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Butler and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Nancy Butler; daughters and son-in-law, Linda Butler, Amanda and Michael Russell; grandchildren, Shanna Elizabeth and Scott Ross and Eve Russell; great-grandchildren, Dylan Michael Carlson, Hayden Butler Ross, and Jackson Ambrose Ross.

Funeral services for Mr. R.L. Butler will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Rev. Glenn Duncan and Mr. Woody Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 from 9AM until the service hour at the funeral home.
