Barbara M. Schmidt

Barbara M. Schmidt was born January 16, 1956 in Lincoln Park, Michigan. While growing up she was an active member of the Metro-Detroit community. Barb passed away on February 4, 2017, in Detroit, Michigan. Barb completed cosmetology school and spent many years working as a hairstylist. Eventually she made the switch from people to dogs, and utilizing her love for animals, found a successful career in dog grooming. Family was very important to her. She was an extremely loving mother and a very devoted sister and daughter; she always made time to care for her mother. She was a very social woman, and loved spending time with her friends. In her younger years, she enjoyed being an active member of the Carpathia club's dance group and continued to be an active member of the club. Selfless and kind are two of the best ways to describe Barb. She truly was a caregiver at heart. From her children and mother to her close friends, no request was too big or too small. If she was able to help she would lend a hand without question. Barbara is the dear mother of Patrick and Ken Steele and second mother to Claudia and grandmother of Ethan. Loving daughter of Mary and the late Franz Schmidt. Caring sister of Margaret Cox (Charles) and Marilyn Andonisio (Robert) and proud aunt of Shaun, Amanda, Gina, Anthony, Kristina, and Alexis. Barbara's family will be receiving friends and guests Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 12pm until 3:00pm with a Memorial Service being held at 3:00pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd, at Masonic (13 Mile Rd.,) in Warren. She will be deeply missed by her family and many dear friends. Please share a memory on our guest book.
