Blanche "Paula" Ebenhoeh

Paula was born September 4, 1930 in Detroit, MI, the only child of Wilbur and Paula (DeVriendt) Hardy. She was a graduate of St. Ambrose High School in 1948 and married Joseph F. Ebenhoeh, Jr., in 1951. In their early married life, Joe and Paula were active in Christian Family Movement at St. Joan of Arc in Saint Clair Shores. As their children grew up, they opened their home and Paula became a foster mother for babies for over 7 years. When their daughter Beth was diagnosed with Lupus, Paula became her primary caregiver until Beth’s death in 1992. Throughout her life, and with Joe, Paula was an active volunteer at their parishes of St. Joan of Arc, St. Basil’s and St. Lucy’s. She was continuously making new friends and keeping in touch with many of the spiritual and social networks of her communities.

Paula was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Joe, and daughters Beth and Mary. She is survived by 5 children, Guy (Dorothy), Anne, Mark (Ling), Paul (Nancy), and Mike (Gail); 9 grandchildren, Nadzia Houghton (Randy), Mychal Oliver (Greg), Theresa Voigt (Brett), Joe, Dan (Lisa), Paul (Mallory Newman), Helena Morrow (Mike), Jonek, and Jesse; and was the loving great-grandmother of Bethany, Emmalyn, Brenden, Noah, Bryn, Roman, Myla, Isaac, Connor, Maci, Seth, Molly.

A visitation for Paula will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7 PM, at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. An instate will occur Friday, June 16, 2023 at 10:30 AM, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM at St Lucy Catholic Church, 23401 Jefferson Ave, Saint Clair Shores, MI 48080.
