Charles (Charlie) was born in Detroit, Michigan to George and Norma Lauhoff. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda (Kallmann), his children Krista and Andrew and grandchildren Kyle, Sofia, Katelyn and Aaron. He also leaves behind sister Christine Barry and nephews Tim and Mike. Charles was also especially close to his Brecht cousins.
He attended Catholic schools, graduating from Austin Catholic Prep in 1960. Charlie then attended University of Detroit, earning a Bachelor degree followed by an MBA. At the age of 15 he began to work at the family business, Lauhoff Corporation, a manufacturing shop started in Detroit by his grandfather Frank in 1882. Charlie worked his way up to CEO and led the business through it's closure.
A devout Catholic, Charlie was a dedicated member of St. Joan of Arc in St, Clair Shores since 1971. His strong faith led him to teach Catechism to kids and then later helping adults become Catholic through the OCIA program. Charles was also an active volunteer at St. Bonaventure Capuchin Monastery.
Charlie and his wife Linda moved to Grosse Pointe Woods in 1971 where he lived until his passing.
Following his retirement Charles spent a lot of time collecting and tinkering with railroad pocket watches. He was an active leader in the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors Great Lakes chapter.
Charlie enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting all his life and was happy to participate most recently in November 2024.
Charlie cherished his many friendships formed throughout his life and had a great sense of humor. Despite his health issues he maintained a smile until the end.
