
Cornelius Williams was born in Detroit on July 31, 1928 to Clem and Martha Williams. He was married to his beloved wife Constance for over 49 years at her death in 2007. Mr. Williams retired from the City of Detroit in 1987 after over 31 years of service. In 1973 he was ordained as a minister in the Catholic church and as a minister in the Baptist church in 1977. He served at a chaplain for the Detroit Police Department as well. He was on the board of the Oakland County Catholic Services, the Detroit Public Schools Region 7, and the St. Vincent de Paul chapter at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He was a member of the NAACP, the Masons, VFW Post, and St. Peter Clavers. Mr. Williams enjoyed photography, both still and using a camcorder. He was a craftsman, building several projects, always keeping busy. According to his family he would repair cars after an accident, doing a better job than any collision shop. Mr. Williams is survived by his children Jacqueline Williams, Angella Owens, Anthony Dennis Williams, Sr., and Cornelius Williams, Jr. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren including a special grandchild, Latrice, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. His wife Constance and his daughter Carroll McFarland precede his in death. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society . A funeral service will take place Friday May 15, 12 noon at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods. Family and friends will gather beginning at 11:30 am.
