

Daniel D. Bakich passed away on October 21, 2015 at the age of 87. He was born on November 11, 1927 in Saline, Michigan; son of Christopher and Mildred (nee Algosh) Bakich. Daniel served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater. He was a member of the Underwater Demolitions Team which was the precursor to the Navy Seals. Shortly after the war Daniel met Virginia Stechebar. The couple exchanged their wedding vows in Detroit on August 12, 1950. They have lived in Grosse Pointe since 1956. Mr. Bakich was a natural swimmer and enjoyed fishing. He was an avid reader and loved watching the Tigers and Red Wings play. He was often soft spoken and enjoyed his evening scotch. His biggest love and greatest accomplishment in life was his family. He leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Virginia. He was proud of his daughters Rebecca Delodder (the late Frank "Skip"), Dawn Edwards (David); and son Daniel M. Bakich. He adored his grandchildren Jason, Jennifer, Jaimie, Erika, and Blake; and great-grandchildren Lukas and Anika. He is survived by a sister Dorothy Bakich. He was the brother of the late Chris Bakich (Delores) and Judith Bakich.
