Just found this out as I was searching my favorite teacher at Notre Dame class of '81. If him as my teacher in every class I would have been an A+ student for sure. Very sorry for the terrible news of him and his wife.  Iremember him ushering as well at St Jude Church.  I know he must have a great family. God's continued blessings be upon this family.  Thank you Mr. Lynch. You were a bright spot to my otherwise very average experience in High school.  Thank you

I did not know Dennis or Delores but my sister, Cynthia Whitten, did. If i'm not mistaken Cynthia went to school with Dennis at Guardian Angels. She spoke so highly of them, so lovingly. When I heard of their deaths it broke my heart as well. This world so desperately needs the kindness and goodness that they possessed. Blessings to everyone who was near and dear to them.

I'm still in shock, we said hello to eachother almost every single day.  Dennis and Dolores were the best neighbors I've ever had. I actually think of them as family. Lori, I am so sorry to hear about your parents. I found out what happen when I was playing hockey this past week. Some of the guys that I play with went to Notre Dame high school with me and told me that Mr. Lynch and his wife passed away passed away. He was one of my teachers at Notre Dame. Our sad hearts and fervent prayers go out to Lori, Jim, Catie, Charlie, Sam, and the entire Lynch family, on the tragic loss of Dennis & Dolores. Lori was my co-worker for 13 great years and I witnessed what a great person two very dedicated parents brought my way. Dennis & Dolores have left a lasting legacy of love to their children, grandchildren, extended family, former students, and friends, that will live on in so many hearts. So sorry to hear this news. I remember many summers at the GP Shores park and pool with Mr Lynch. He was a great mentor, friend and boss.

We had the privilege of working with Dennis at Grosse Pointe Shores. He was an amazingly wonderful gentleman, as was Dolores a lovely lady. They will be greatly missed. Dennis and Dolores have been dear friends for more than 60 years. So many card games, quiet dinners, rounds of golf and just plain good conversations about kids, grand-kids and just growing old. We were very much in shock at hearing the tragic news.  Condolences to the entire family from the both of us. Our prayers will be with all of you.

My sincerest condolences to the Lynch family and friends. I attended Notre Dame High School. Mr Lynch personally encouraged me to stretch and move up to the honors track in math. I don't think I would have ended up in engineering otherwise. Many of my classmates can share similar stories. He taught with patience, understanding and compassion. What a kind, humble, approachable, and passionate man! I met Mr. Lynch in the library at ND as a sophomore even before he became my teacher. He was figuring out the answers to a math competition exam he had just given and allowed me to look over his shoulder as he whipped through the problems. He showed a genuine interest in talking math with me that day and sparked my desire to approach math competitively. It saddens me to hear of the tragic loss of Mr. and Mrs. Lynch. I hope that their many loved ones can find comfort in celebrating the countless lives that they have touched.

To the Family:   I served at Notre Dame High School with Dennis and Dolores for sixteen years, from 1984-2000. Although Dennis taught math and I taught religion and history, our paths often crossed in the corridor or in the faculty room. Dolores, being in the business office, I ran into most every day, either picking up the Rectory mail or retrieving tests that needed to be run-off. They were among the nicest people I have ever met, always joyful and totally devoted to the boys and the school.   Since my departure from Harper Woods, I would see them at Mass at St. Paul of Tarsus in Clinton Twp on occasion, where I helped out as a weekend assistant for 8 years.  Now I am a pastor myself, at St. Anthony's Church in Belleville, MI - located about 5 miles west of Metro Airport off I-94. I plan on being at St. Joan of Arc for the Mass on Friday.  My prayers are with you and I know God will bring them safely home to their eternal reward.

My reaction to hearing the news today was beyond shocked and saddened. One of my all-time favorite high school teachers, Mr Lynch left an indelible mark and positively influenced my future development. I will never forget his patience, smile, sense of humor, and encouragement as a world class math and geometry teacher. He genuinely cared about every student's well-being, and always made extra time for additional help. The only math teacher I've had at any level who also gave us "pop" spelling quizzes of relevant terms and words that we used in class on a daily basis. I enjoyed catching up with him in the hallways even when I was no longer a student in his class. It became incredibly apparent how devoted and proud he was of his family, and my heartfelt condolences go out to all of you.

We've had decades of wonderful memories with Dennis and Dolores.  They were a perfect example of a loving couple, of great parents, and doting grandparents. I don't ever recall an unkind word passing their between them and anyone or about anyone. They are and will be greatly missed.
