

Dolores H. Bolden, age 79, died peacefully at home on her birthday, December 5, 2013. Dolores was born in Muskegon, MI on December 5, 1934, the daughter of Russell and Mary Rayburn. She moved with her family to Detroit at a young age and graduated Denby High School in 1952. She continued her education and graduated Wayne State University in 1956. She began her career as a teacher in Detroit and in 1958, she taught in Germany for a year. Returning back to Michigan, she was employed at the Grosse Pointe Public Schools from 1959 until her retirement in 1994. She taught in the primary grades at Kerby, Monteith, Barnes and Mason schools. During her teaching career she continued her education and received her Master's Degree from Wayne State University. In 1967, Dolores married Wayne Bolden at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Detroit. Dolores and Wayne have been long time residents of Grosse Pointe and active in the community. She was a member of the Grosse Pointe Woods Presbyterian Church where she was a very active member and part of the Bible Study Fellowship and Sunday School programs. Dolores enjoyed traveling which included many cruises in the Caribbean, a cruise to the Holy Land, to the Baltic and two cruises to Alaska. Most recently, Wayne and Dolores were on a river cruise in Europe. In addition to traveling, she enjoyed knitting, entertaining family and friends, and long walks on the beach in Florida with her grandchildren who would entice her into building sand castles and shelling. She was a very, very active woman! Dolores is survived by her husband, Wayne; their two children, Matthew Bolden and Elizabeth Brett (Kevin); four grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel, Benjamin and Isabel and her sister, Kathleen Clor. The funeral for Dolores will be 12 noon on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. Visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Interment will be private at the White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy. The family has suggested, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Living Hope Church, P. O.
