Dolores Brys

Dolores Mary Brys passed away on October 2, 2016 at the Evangelical Home in Sterling Heights, Michigan at the age of 88. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 10, 1928; daughter of Alfred and Alice (nee LaFlamme) Patry. Dolores was a graduate of Grosse Pointe High School. She was a wonderful and caring wife, mother and person. Her family enjoyed her home made cooking, including meatloaf, tapioca and rice pudding, made from scratch pies and jellies made from fruits and berries, some of which were handpicked from their own garden. Dolores also enjoyed canning tomatoes, pickles, peaches and chili relish. She never complained about anything and was a selfless person who always put the needs of others ahead of her own. Her kind and caring ways were evident as she watched over everyone and took care of her husband Ed and son Darryl in their times of sickness. Dolores also volunteered at Bon Secours/Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe for 27 years. Dolores was a woman of strong faith, rarely missing a Mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where she was a proud member for 77 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at their cottage on Lake Ogemaw. Her hobbies included bowling at Harbor Lanes (where she was a league member for 40 years). She also enjoyed line dancing, tap dancing, shuffleboard, and going to Music in the Park at St. Clair Shores Senior Center. Dolores was predeceased in 2005 by the love of her life, husband Edward of 54 years. She was very proud of her son Dennis (Gail) Brys and the late Darryl; and daughters Cheryl (John) Girard, Denise (Rick) Brys-Megge, and Laura (Dan) Nixon. She adored her 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 5th from 10:00am until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Monsignor G. Michael Bugarin will officiate. Dolores will be interned next to her beloved husband Edward at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Roseville. Memorial contributions may be made to Custom Hospice.
