Dorothy Anne Koch

Dorothy Anne Koch (ne Stoff), 84, died Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Shorepointe Village Assisted Living in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Born on July 15, 1930 to William and Elsa Stoff in Detroit, Michigan, Dorothy was sibling to William (Ellen) and Shirley Sullivan (Matthew). She graduated from Southeastern High School in Detroit and staged the window displays at Healy's Department Store on Jefferson Avenue. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, golf and bowling. Dorothy married her beloved, the late Arthur E. in 1952, and they settled in East Detroit, where they resided for 55 years and raised their three children, Kenneth (Cynthia), Katherine Mannino (Edward) and Karen LoFrano (John). A loving mother, devoted wife and homemaker, Dorothy hosted many holidays and parties for her family and was always prepared for an evening klatch with loved ones. She and Arthur also enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, Austria and Spain. She is also survived by grandchildren Jeffrey Koch (Lisa), Matthew Mannino (Leah), Philip Mannino (Kari), Michael Mlynarek (Alaina), Steven Mannino, Daniel Mlynarek and Laura Mlynarek. Her great-grandchildren, Sylvia, Annika, Gabriella, Emma, Salvatore and Sadie loved to visit Great-Grandma at Shorepointe Village, where they would laugh, eat ice cream and play with Noah's Ark. She was also excited for the arrival of her newest great-grandchild, due in April 2015. The celebration of Dorothy's life will include a visitation on Sunday, October 5 from 3-8pm with a Scripture Service at 7pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home (20705 Mack Ave, at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods). A mass will be held on Monday, October 6 at noon at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church (21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores). In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Henry Ford Hospice, Office of Philanthropy, 1 Ford Place, 5A, Detroit, MI 48202 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause that Dorothy liked to support, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
