It will take a long time to sink in that our good friend and neighbor, Ed, is no longer with us. We wish to express our sincere sympathy to Sue, Monica, Melissa, Matt and family.

I met Eddie in 6th grade after moving to Dayton. Ed was an early and lasting friend.Mischievous and playful he remained true to his friends throughout his life. Dear Sue, Mary, Monica, Melissa & Matt. I just found out about Ed and am so very sorry for your loss. Sue, no man has ever had a wife that took such good care of him and the wholefamily saw that. your sense of humor was the perfect match for his. Ed was gentle and artistic and funny. I remember sitting around the dining room table at 650 and watching Aunt Mary Rose and Aunt Betty and Ed laugh themselves into tears. To be able to enjoy ones life so is truly a blessing and a testament to the love Ed gave and received. Sue, I am so grateful that you and Ed had each other and were blessed with three wonderful children that have grown into wonderful adults. Monica, Melissa & Matt, there is no easy time or way to lose the physical presence of your dad but in time you will realize that he keeps watch over you when something catches your eye that your dad would have marveled at, when you are faced with an important decision, when you start families of your own, his presence will be with you. Mary, I am glad that you have your girls and grandson to help you through this trying time. You and Ed were a happy blessing to each other's life and a source of strength for each other. There are no words that can ease your shock and pain. Stay close to each other and know that Ed will always be a part of your life. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. your cousin, Mary Ann.

There are no words to describe my feelings when I heard in church yesterday of Ed's passing. I grew up across the street from Ed and his family on Sunningdale Drive over 50 years ago. I will always have good memories of him.

All of my prayers and sympathy go out to Ed's family and friends. I will pray for him and all of you. I can only remember good times with Ed from Benedictine High. Besides being one of the funniest men I knew, he was always the kindest and most gentle. I was also lucky enough to dance with him and I always used his dancing ability to compare other men too. One of the reasons, I chose my husband, Jim, was because he was as good at dancing as Ed was and we have been married 47 yrs. Ed was a man that always had time to talk with you about anything and I know how important at the time I knew him, the CYO, was to him. I do not know anyone ever that could say an unkind word about such a fine person and he only had good words to say in return. May God bless you all and give you the strength you need at this difficult time. Ed is in God's arms now, because God only takes the very Best. My deepest condolences to you and your family and his friends. I know how sorely he will be missed. You and your children truly had a marvelous example for a husband and father and one to be very proud of all the days of your lives. May all the memories of his great laugh continue to help you through this time of grieving. He will be sorely missed by everyone at Benedictine High, I am sure. From the time I started to babysit Monica, the Loveley's instantly became a second family to me. Mr. Loveley was my "other" father. He truly truly was a wonderful "Papa" and I am so fortunate to have known him. Till we meet again!!

Shared love of both Donegal Bay(BI fanatic)and Pewabic with Ed. Felt honored to work in studio with such an amazingly talented artist!He was cheerfully doing charity work his last night at the studio-"empty bowls".Such a nice guy, we'll all surely miss him greatly.

I have 70 years of wonderful memories of Ed, my cousin and my friend. His wit, caring heart, love of fun and family have been constant for all that time. Those of us who shared the experiences will never forget the family gatherings at Mission Island, Second Blvd. and Boston Blvd. I was also privileged to visit Beaver Island, a place so close to Ed's heart, and have enjoyed countless memorable times at their home with Sue, Monica, Melissa, Matt, Mary and their many friends and family members. My heart goes out to all of them...we will miss him so much!

Through his life and his art, he touched so many people with his unique gift for creating light, color, beauty, warmth and joy. He truly defined the term "good guy" and we were blessed to know him. Ed was a very good friend all through grade school and at Chaminade. We did many things togather and have lots of great memories. When I was in Detroit for work I enjoyed having lunch or dinner with him and recalling old times. I thought it was nice of Ed to have me up to Beaver Island a few times. Its a really neat place. God be with you Ed. I'll miss you.

Dear Sue, I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Ed's passing. Heather phoned me this morning to pass on the news which she got from Emily Shefferly. I truly understand the depths of your loss and hope time and fond memories will help minimize the grief. My memories of Ed include seeing him ride his bike around the community and attending all those Korean adopted family functions. We had so much fun and created good friendships all around. He will be missed but not forgotten. May God Bless you and your family.

Please accept my sincerest condolences at Ed's passing. We hadn't seen each other since our Benedictine days in 1960, but he was always a very nice, polite young guy & we had many good times. He always had a good sense of humorand was well-liked by all. He will be missed.

I haven't seen Ed since high school, but he used to come over to our house a lot to hang out. My Mom loved him for always wanting to vacuum the house. He was just a really sweet guy. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Mr. Loveley was such an amazing father and mentor. I met him through his daughter, Melissa, my college roommate, and was amazed at the love that he had for his family and his family's friends. I know that he will be missed greatly, but I also know that he touched every person's heart that he met and his amazing personality will live on through you all, Mrs. Loveley, Monica, Melissa, and Matt. I had the pleasure of meeting Ed last spring at Pewabic where I taught his independent study course. I'm thrilled he found so much joy in playing with clay, and the detail that went into his birds and drawings were really quite remarkable. He was so sweet, and full of good humor, and I know how sorely he'll be missed around the studio.

dearest old friends....i was shocked and deeply saddened by ed's passing...i remember ed's wide smile and all the great times shared at each of our family's homes as all our kids grew up....my thoughts are now with sue, monica, melissa and matt as they struggle thru this trying time...ed will be sincerely missed by our family.

We will always remember Ed's helpful kindness and his pride in his children's accomplishments. Now he'll be creating celestial sculptures.

I was saddened to hear of Ed's passing. He was a loved and respected member of the Scarab Club and a wonderful artist. My most sincere sympathy to his family. He was a remarkable man--kind, compassionate and tireless in his concern for others. He will be greatly missed.

I knew Ed for a short time during my participation at Pewabic Pottery. I found him to be a wonderful talented man. He was always a kind and caring person who took an interest in all those around him. He will be sadly missed.

I met Ed at Pewabic during the summer last year. He was a very nice man,and I admired his work. I am supremely sorry for his family's loss.

Please accept my sincerest condolences for the loss of Ed. I had the pleasure of meeting him last spring during a class at Pewabic, and was instantly taken by how good humored, and sweet he was. The classroom was transformed by his involvement, artwork, and friendship. How comforting to see in all these entries how appreciated he was by all who knew him, even those who were only lucky enough to have a few short months in his presence.

I know Ed from Pewabic. He always lived up to his name. He was, in fact, a very lovely man. He will be missed. I am both proud and honored to say that he was my friend. It just won't be the same without him.

We are very sorry for your loss. Ed was a kind, wonderful man. Our Aunt is going to be 92 years old soon. For years, he has been taking her to the grocery store and bank, as well as helping her keep various other appointments. He was always there for her when she needed anything repaired in her home or yard. Ed was generous with his time and did everything with a cheerful spirit. May God Bless him.

I have fun memories of Ed at Corpus Christi grade school in Dayton, Ohio and onto our Chaminade years too. We were the Borchers twins, Becky and Bobbye and we shared good times growing up in Dayton View with "Eddie". God rest your soul.
