Eugene Kenneth Haviland, age 83 of St. Clair Shores, passed away November 30, 2016. He was born in Detroit on May 30, 1933; the son of Kenneth and Tessie (nee Zebrowski) Haviland. Eugene served for two years in the United States Marine Corp. He was honorably discharged and released from active duty on February 8th, 1955. He served in the Korean war and was stationed in several areas, including Japan, Iwo Jima and Guadal canal. Throughout school, his military career, and even semi-professionally, Gene excelled at Football. He was a huge sports fan, and enjoyed the Detroit teams in particular. He often took his family to Tiger's Stadium on family night. Gene was an extremely hard worker. Often taking on a second job after working as a longtime and dedicated Credit Manager for Sears. In his spare time, though, he thoroughly enjoyed being with his family. In early years, they spent several summers in Traverse City for 5:00 AM fishing trips. He also loved traveling.
