After a long, hard fought battle with cancer, Frank Taubitz, age 90, went home on September 13, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne Taubitz. Survived by his sister Marcella Taubitz. Loving father of Joseph (Sherry), Theresa (Douglas) Drauch, James (Monica) and Frank (Terry). Proud grandfather of Andrea (Brian) Schreier, Matt (Holly) Drauch, Lauren (Tony) Ehret, Melissa (Jake) Wittler, Lucas (Aimee) Taubitz, Stephanie (Joe) Simony, Hannah Taubitz (fianc Timothy Roth), Rachelle Taubitz (fianc Justin Shaffer), Leah Taubitz and Emily Taubitz. Very proud great grandfather of Elise, Helena, Anabella Drauch and Owen Wittler. Frank served during the Korean war stateside for 2 years before returning to civilian life. It wasn't long after that when Frank met his future bride, Joanne, at the Vanity Ballroom dance hall. They were married for 63 years and the two spent many years dancing at weddings and at square dancing events. He worked initially as a barber and then at Sanders Bakery. He later returned to the hair cutting business. Frank got to know a lot of heads over the years and worked as a barber until he was 85. He enjoyed the comradery of his coworkers and chatting with his loyal customers. Frank was always there to cut hair for friends, family and neighbors. And while many of us had Frank cut our hair because he was so good at it, there was another reason. It was also a time you could connect 1 on 1 and share life's experiences with each other. The haircut was only the vehicle to spend time together. Many of us will always treasure those talks Frank was also an active volunteer and worked as a Recovery Inc. Support Group Leader and as a volunteer at St. Joan of Arc, his home parish for over 50 years. He was an expert baker and loved to make cookies and all types of breads. His famous "Grandpa Rolls" were a must at family gatherings. Frank exemplified what our faith tells about putting JOY in our life. J - put Jesus first, O - put others second, Y - put yourself last. He always made God the priority in his life. And he always wanted to see others succeed or get what they wanted before he considered his own needs. He found joy in serving his wife and his family and now has found JOY with God in heaven. A visitation will take place on Monday, September 16, from 2:00 to 9:00 pm with scripture service at 7:00 pm at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Woods, 48236.
