

Brauning, Frederick, age 91 of St. Clair Shores passed away, April 19, 2017. A proud United States Army Veteran, Fred was involved in three separate conflicts. Following his service and bravery in Europe, Fred found himself headed to the Philippines and the Pacific front. Fred was also one of Metro Detroit's most respected Architects. He was a graduate of Lawrence Tech University, and was the founder and owner of Fred Brauning & Associates. Fred's offices were located in Detroit Free Press Building for over 60 years. In addition to his military service and professional accomplishments, Fred was also very involved in the local boating community. He was a proud member and past Commander of The Grosse Pointe Power Squadron, and the Safe Boating Course instructor for more than 29 years. The "Patti-Mari" will always be remembered as dad's vessel. Beloved father of, Frederick (Annette) Brauning, William (Vena) Brauning, Lawrence Brauning, Patricia Sterfforia, and Marianne Brauning. Cherished grandfather of, Angela Mueller, Daniel Stefforia, Adam Brauning, Joseph Brauning, Timothy Brauning, Ashley Meyers, Drew Stefforia, and Jaclyn Brauning. Cherished great-grandfather of, Rylyn Meyer. Loving brother of, Theodore Brauning, and Gunther (Hildie) Brauning. Preceaded in death by his granddaughter, Crystal Stefforia. The family will receive relatives and friends at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home of Grosse Pointe, 20705 Mack Avenue (at Vernier), Wednesday, April 26th from 1-9pm. Services will be held Thursday, April 27th at 10am at the funeral home. Visitation 9:30-10am on Thursday prior to the service. Interment, Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI.
