Gaylis Ellen Leiter

Gaylis E. Leiter, age 89, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012. She was born Wednesday, November 22, 1922 to Raymond and Mae (nee Ahrens) Tolsma in Detroit, Michigan. Originally a Farmington Hills resident, Gaylis moved to Grosse Pointe Woods in 2006. She and her late husband H. Allen were longtime members of the Detroit Yacht Club where they enjoyed boating and spending time together. Gaylis was extremely devoted to her husband and family as well as a devout christian. She enjoyed playing bridge, singing and dancing. Beloved wife of the late H. Allen for 60 years. Loving mother of Christine (John) Clark. Proud grandmother of Peter and Jonathon (Katherine). Visitation will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 11:00am until time of service at 12:00pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Deacon Mike Barthel will officiate. Interment will take place Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan. Gaylis' family would like to extend special appreciation to Great Lakes Caring Hospice. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
