Grace Jean Upton

Grace Jean Upton passed away on July 24, 2010 at the age of 92. She was born on July 18, 1918 in Detroit; the sixth of seven children to Henry and Martha (nee Finley) Eib. She lived on the East side of Detroit all of her life, residing for a long period of time on Fischer near Indian Village. She worked hard in the Service Department for General Electric, retiring in the 1980's. Jean was an avid shopper and was known to wear flashy jewelry. She was extremely proud of her family. She saved every document and picture acknowledging the accomplishments of her son Deacon Bill Jamieson. She was the doting grandmother of six and great grandmother of 9. She leaves behind her son Deacon Bill Jamieson (Rosanne); six granddaughters; Therese (Andy) Schueneman, Clare (Bill) Duross, Bridget (Dave) Byrnes, Colette (Brian) Kowalski, Veronica (John) McAtee, Bernadette (Will) Gibson, and 9 great grandchildren. Visitaton will be held on Thursday from 4:00 - 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A Scripture Service will be conducted at 7:00 pm. Mrs. Upton will lie in state on Friday at 9:30 am until the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church 467 Fairford Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods.
