Herbert J. Fleischer

Herbert J. Fleischer, age 81 of Warren, passed away July 13, 2015. He was born in Delmenhorst, Germany on February 8, 1934; the son of Theodore and Maria (nee Kalina) Fleischer. Herb immigrated to Canada independently of his family when he was 19 years old. After meeting and marrying Johanna, they moved to the United States and Herb joined the U.S. Army from May 1959 until April 1965. Following his honorable service, Herb worked as a Painter for the GM Technical Center in Warren for many years. He was also a longtime member of the Carpathia Club as well as an avid golfer. He loved to garden, travel, take cruises and gamble. Johanna preceded Herb in death in 2000 and his later years were then enriched by the company of his cherished and best friend, Alice. Beloved husband of the late Johanna for 43 years and adoring companion of Alice Jankowski for 11 years. Loving father of David (Catherine) and Dennis (Kelly). Treasured grandfather "Opa" of Nicholas, Nathan and McKenzye. Dear brother of Hildegarde Schmitz, Ursula Freese and Helga Scholler. Herb's family will receive friends on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM and Friday, July 17, 2015 from 2:00PM until 9:00PM with a Rosary at 7:00PM at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr at Masonic (13-1/2 Mile), Warren. Instate Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 9:30AM until time of Mass 10:00AM at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 14025 E. Twelve Mile Rd., Warren. Interment to take place Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 12:30PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
