Gail was born July 29, 1936 in Reesedale, PA, to the late Roger and Theone Brown. She enjoyed an idyllic country life in the Western Pennsylvania hills along the Allegheny River with her two sisters and three brothers.
After graduating high school, Gail and her best friend moved to the Detroit area. She found work as a secretary, first at DT Randall Company and later at Lawyer’s Title where she met Thomas Sheahan. They were married in 1962 at St. Matthew Church in Detroit. Gail devoted her life to her husband and three children, leaving her position at Lawyer’s Title to raise her family in St. Clair Shores. When her children were older, she returned to work as an executive secretary at Cadillac Gage/TEXTRON until her retirement. Gail and Tom celebrated over forty-nine years of marriage prior to his death in 2012.
Gail enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and loved to garden, bake, and cook, as well as spend time with friends and socialize with fellow St. Lucy parishioners after mass. More than anything, her family was her world, and like Saint Therese of the Little Flower, she showed great love in small ways, particularly through her delicious cooking.
In addition to her husband and parents, Gail is preceded in death by her brothers Paul (Kay), Richard, and Allen (Kathie) Brown; brothers-in-law Frank Reitler, Richard Hockenberry, William (Lois) Sheahan, and James (Betty) Sheahan.
Gail leaves behind her children James Sheahan (Phil Silvio), Jane Chapman, and Patrick (Gina) Sheahan; her grandchildren Daniel Chapman, Erin (Mitch) Lockemy, Kathryn Chapman, Ryan Chapman, Jack Sheahan and Oliver Sheahan; her great-granddaughter Nora Lockemy; her sisters Arlene Reitler and Beverly Hockenberry; her sister-in-law Kathy Brown; brother-in-law John (Eleanor) Sheahan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sheahan will lie instate at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 23401 Jefferson, St. Clair Shores, MI on Thursday, May 30 from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. There will be a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m with Fr. James Commyn officiating. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI on Friday May 31 at 10:00 a.m. The family has suggested memorial contributions be directed to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF).
