

Janis M. Jevons passed away at her home with family by her side at the age of 97 on April 16, 2026. She was born on October 3, 1928 in Detroit. Janis is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, William Jevons. She was proud of and dearly loved her four daughters, Kathleen, Deborah, Cynthia (Gary) and Kimberly (Matthew), her four grandchildren Andrea (Nick), Heather (Nick), Thomas and Emily and her four great-grandchildren Anthony, Nico, Vera and Ellis.
Janis graduated from Detroit Southeastern High School in 1946 after which she attended Wayne State University where she met the love of her life, Bill Jevons. Two years later, Janis transferred to The University of Michigan and, in 1950, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduation she worked as a Medical Technologist. She and Bill were married on November 25, 1950 at Faith Lutheran Church in Detroit. They have resided in Grosse Pointe Woods since 1961.
Janis found great joy in traveling around the country with Bill and their daughters in their Dodge Motor Home. As a Girl Scout Leader, she experienced many fun adventures, including traveling to Mackinac Island, Mexico and Europe. Janis was also very active at home, being especially fond of golf, walking and reading. She was very involved with her church, especially Women of the Church, Faith Circle and Altar Guild. After supporting her husband through medical school, she became actively involved in the Michigan Medical Auxiliary eventually serving as President. She, along with nine of her friends, started an Investment Club which met monthly and lasted for more than twenty-five years.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 from 4PM until 8PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Woods. Janis will lie instate on Saturday, April 25 from 9AM until the Funeral Service at 10AM at First English Ev. Lutheran Church, 800 Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Pastor Sean Motley will officiate. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit. Memorial contributions may be made to the Altar Guild at First English Ev. Lutheran Church.
