

Joan Ruth Klauka was born in Detroit, MI on May 7, 1934 to Daniel and Pearl (nee Williams) Douglas. She entered into rest on July 9, 2016 in Warren, at the age of 82. Joan graduated from Cass Tech High School where she was a talented bass player and vocalist in the school band. She was also an extremely accomplished pianist. Joan's passion was for children. She was a longtime employee of Warren Consolidated Schools and a devoted foster mother of 28. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, cooking and baking. Not only did everyone adore her sauerkraut & kielbasa and cinnamon rolls, her legacy lives on through Douglas Sweets Shortbreads in Vermont. Beloved wife of the late Leslie for 62 years. Loving mother of Bud (Julie), Debra Townsend, Denise (Bill) Down, and Jewel Lynch. Treasured grandmother of Sarah (Don) Henning, Elida (Jamie) Athearn, Megan (Don) Klauka, Jill (Bryan) Tate, Moriah (Kyle) Burgess, Nicole Klauka, Brandon Klauka, Brittiny Townsend, Hannah Townsend, Matthew Townsend, Ian Townsend, and Alex Down. Proud great-grandmother of Collin, Chase, Sophia, Sawyer, Drew, Jack, Max, Ben, Austin, Stefan, Jackson, Grayson, Ethan, David, and Serenity. Joan's family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 12th from 3:00pm until time of service 7:00pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr at Masonic (13-1/2 Mile), Warren. Interment to take place 10:00am Wednesday, July 13th at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Clinton Township.
