

Joseph Philip LaCombe, age 84 died peacefully at William Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe on Friday, January 16, 2009. Phil was an auto equipment and parts salesman having retired from Dalgleish Cadillac in Detroit. He honorably served his country as a Private First Class in the Army Air Corps during World War II. His family was the most important part of his life and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an arts and crafts buff and constructed miniature doll houses as a hobby. Phil was a former usher at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary; children, Suzanne Holtz (Paul), Rosemarie Drysdale and Mark LaCombe (Penny Brown); grandchildren, Sean, Christopher, Erin, Matthew, Logan, Seth and Andrew; and brothers, Robert (Marie), Donald (Aggie) and Lawrence (Dianne). Visitation will be from 3-10 pm Tuesday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods with a rosary service at 7:00 pm. His body will lie instate at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack at Overlake Street, St. Clair Shores from 9:30 am Wednesday until time of mass at 10:00 am. Military honors presented by the United States Army will follow mass.
