Dina was born on December 6th, 1927 in Kalamata, Greece, the fourth of six children, to her parents Elias and Sophia Mallikourtis. As a young girl, Dina and her siblings, Ioannis (Sophia) Mallikoutis, Maria (Ioannis) Gaitanidi, Antoni (Vasiliki) Mallikourtis, Irini (Stelios) Damaskinou, Stavros (Maria) Mallikourtis, lost their mother, and shortly after moved to Athens, Greece where they grew up. Growing up, Dina took over the responsibilities of her late mother, making sure her father and siblings were always cared for.
Later in life, she met and married her late husband Georgios Ikonomopoulos, and had two beautiful daughters, the late Angeliki (Joe) Jianis and Sophia (Christopher) French. They immigrated to the United States in 1969, where they lived in Detroit, Michigan, and later settled in Saint Clair Shores.
Dina worked as a seamstress at the original Hudson's in Detroit, where her love of style grew. She was always best dressed, and classy from head to toe. She loved bringing friends and family on shopping trips as a way to leisurely spend time together. At home, she was the most incredible chef, constantly cooking and baking delicious meals and desserts that she shared with friends and family. She also was passionate about gardening and making her home beautiful with all of her flowers, plants, vegetables, and herbs.
Dina had a sharp sense of humor and quick wit. She loved entertaining and opening her home to friends, cultivating an environment where everyone around her was always having a wonderful time. She was incredibly selfless and always extending herself to help others. Dina faithfully attended church and upheld her Greek Orthodox beliefs in every aspect of her life and raised her daughters the same.
She found great pride in being a grandmother to her four grandchildren, Emmanuel (Mackenzie) and Konstantina Jianis, and George and Nicole French. Her family was her pride and joy, and loved nothing more than for us to all be together.
Dina will be greatly missed by all who knew her, as she made a significant impact on everyone she met. May her memory be eternal. She is survived by her daughter Sophia (Chris), son-in-law Joe (the late Angeliki), all of her grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Konstantina will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 21800 Marter Rd, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080, followed by a funeral service from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
Her funeral will be live streamed at https://vimeo.com/event/5107356/a1d2bb3ca9
