

Lillian (Lil) Eleanor Vandenbroker, age 95 of Dearborn Heights, passed away December 11, 2015. She was born in Detroit on November 16, 1920; the daughter of Victor and Mary Vandenbroker. Throughout Lil's life, she remained active in sports and she enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was a Riveter during WWII, an avid golfer, bowler and had a great appreciation for the outdoors. Lil retired from Michigan Bell. Lil was a member of the Dearborn Racquet and Tennis Club, where she worked out daily. She won consecutive Michigan Senior Olympics in golf. Her admirable golfing skills earned her a "Hole in One" trophy from the Lake Forest Country Club in 1988. Lil's drive that day was 110 yards on the 13th hole. Although Lil always maintained that she was "just an average bowler", her high game of 268 tells a different story. Dearest friend of Patsy Wilson for over 50 years. Caring sister of the late Florence, Rose, Charles, and Henry. Loving aunt of Ronald Stanley, the late Wayne (Joanne) Stanley, Carol (Tom) Healy, Dolores (William) Doyle. Devoted great aunt of the late Colette (Paul) Krok, Jon (laura) Stanley, Denise (Robert) Huey, Gloria Tilley, Debbie (Nick) Stachurski, Patricia (Leo) Jaroneski, Timothy (Donna) Doyle, Kevin Doyle, Mark (Linda) Healy and Becky Healy, She is also survived by many admiring great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation Tuesday 10:00 am until time of service 12:00 noon at the AH. Peters funeral home, 20705 Mack at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. Deacon Mike Cummings will be officiating. A luncheon will follow immediatley after the service at Andiamo's Tratorria on Mack at Hampton in Grosse Pointe Woods. Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.
