Marie Caldwell passed away on December 14, 2014 at Huron Valley Hospital in Commerce Twp., at the age of 96. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 3, 1918; the third eldest of 12 siblings of Samuel and Angela (nee Figari) Ardito. Marie had a variety of interests. She was a bowling enthusiast, liked to make crafts, play cards and board games, wrote poetry and played the piano a bit. She liked to have her family over for Sunday dinners and on the holidays. She enjoyed music and dancing. But, most of all, she loved taking pictures. She never went anywhere without her camera. Her thoughtfulness was never ending. One of the many thoughtful things she did was to send her family and friends cards for every occasion. She always signed her cards "God Bless You Always" because she had strong faith and wanted to share it with people she loved. She was an officer in the St. Matthew Ladies Guild and belonged to The Legion of Mary saying the prayers and rosary everyday. Marie had a great sense of humor and she liked to make people smile. What did the big rose say to the little rose? Hi ya bud! She leaves behind her loving children Bob, Dick, Janet, Nancy, and Carol. She was proud of her 10 grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Mrs. Caldwell will lie instate on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 467 Fairford Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods.
