Marietta Samaras

Marietta Samaras was born July 29, 1930 in Aliquippa Pennsylvania and entered into rest October 11, 2014 in Warren Michigan at the age of 84. She was the loving wife of Robert for 60 years and dearest mother of Debbie (Brian) Dittmer, Nikki Courtney and the late beloved Valeri Samaras. Marietta was grandmother to Kristen, Michelle, Philip, Alexandra, Brian and Angela and 8 great-grandchildren. She was sister to Emanuel (Marilyn), Antonia and the late Mary (the late George). Marietta started work for the East Detroit School System in 1954 and retired in 1993. She help start the A.P.A. at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and started the Assumption Greek Womens Golf League as well as the Investment Club. She like to play Bridge and also started a Bridge Club. Marietta loved to travel, her and Robert travelled all over Europe and Asia including St. Petersburg in Russia, Greece ten times and Shanghai, China. She loved to entertain, help with social events and Greek Dance. Visitation Tuesday 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with Trisagion 7:00 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods 48236. Funeral Wednesday ; instate 10:00 am until time of service 10:30 am at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 21800 Marter Road, St. Clair Shores 48080 with Father Michael Varlamos officiating. Burial will be at Clinton Grove Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
