Marion C. Therrien, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home, with her loving family by her side on Saturday March 5, 2011. She was born in Anchorville, MI on July 7, 1919; daughter of George and Agnes (nee Addy) Petitpren. MARTHA STEWART OF WILSHIRE STREET. OUR MOTHER Mom you were born to be a parent and housewife nothing made you happier - this was your realm. You and dad had a very strong loving relationship. Both of you were very strong believers in the Catholic faith. You loved each other - truly good people. But sometime sorrow enters the lives of good god-fearing people like the sorrow of your first born child Barbara, who had severe brain damage at her birth at the hands of an incompetent doctor, and ten years later, the decision of having to put your daughter Barbara, in the care of another home because you could not take care of her and the sudden loss of your youngest daughter, Claudia. Why did these things have to happen to you and dad? But with your Catholic faith and strong loving marriage, your children, and friends you and dad were able to go on with your lives and were able to enjoy life again. Mom, you had 90% of the responsibility of raising all six children 5 girls and a boy. Dad was gone each week working to support the family In the summer you gardened, dad would turn over the soil in the kitchen garden where you planted: onions, carrots, radishes, lettuce, tomatoes, and beets. You canned, baked, painted, and you were a seamstress. Sewing was done mostly in the evening after supper. Wedding gowns, Bridesmaid dresses, and formals for our school dances you made them all plus all of your clothes. You would swap tomatoes for peaches from our neighbors peach tree and cook up peach preserves and those neighbors received all the tomatoes they could eat. And oh, lest we forget you had to have the house spotlessly clean: Monday you washed, Tuesday you ironed Wednesday you baked Thursday was an anything goes day and Friday was washing and waxing the kitchen floor even if you were under the weather and Fridays at dinner time Aunt Manee religiously spilled her hot tea and left a dull mark on the shiny waxed floor ouch! that aggravated you so much! So down on your knees you went to clean up the spill. Saturday all of us had little jobs to do to clean the house which would take us hours and hours because we moaned and fought between us as to whose mess it was. I can still see you canning tomatoes and baking the cupcakes, cookies, pies and oh yes the goose that Manee wanted you to cook so badly and at Christmas time all the cookies and decorating and Christmas decorations in the house. And after dinner in the summertime you loved to sit on our small screened in front porch and read the newspaper and relax. When we were older all of our friends liked to hang out at your house and when there were parties you and dad would watch tv in the family room and before you knew it the friends were going upstairs to talk with you and dad. They would coax both of you to join the party and next thing you knew - both of you were downstairs dancing with us. You always said, "That this was the best time of my life." You and dad were always there to support us, if we needed anything you saw that we had it. We will deeply miss you but we all have such wonderful happy memories thanks to you and Dad. We will live on these memories forever. With love always, Your loving family She leaves behind her loving children Barbara Therrien, Marie Addy, Geneva Goeddeke (George), Rosalind Davin (Roy), and Gerard Therrien (Rita).
