Marjorie Josephine was born in Cumberland, Maryland on April 9, 1928 to William and Blanche Valentine. The family moved to Detroit when Marjorie was a teenager. She was a proud graduate of Southeastern High School in 1946. Marjorie met the love of her life, Robert J. Lashorn, on a blind date while she visited relatives in Maryland. After Bob was discharged from the Army, he made his way to Detroit where they enjoyed their second date. On October 25, 1947 Marjorie and Bob were married in Faith Lutheran Church, Detroit. Daughter Wendy Lee was born in 1952. Marjorie and Bob shared many happy years together, and loved their home in St. Clair Shores. They celebrated their 40th and 50th wedding anniversaries with lifelong friends and family members. Marjorie was an active member of Faith Lutheran and St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran churches. She loved and served the Lord in countless ways, whenever she was called upon. Her faith was deep, and she prayed daily for those in need. She was honored by both churches as a "Lutheran Woman of the Year," and was humbled by this recognition. Marjorie is survived by her daughter Wendy and her beloved son-in-law Greg, whom she and Bob considered to be a son. She is also survived by nephew Robert Kuhlman, family members in Maryland and Pennsylvania, and godson Gary Peppler. Marjorie will be greatly missed by church members and by the patrons of Joli Salon, where she worked as the receptionist known as "Jackie" for many years. She will be remembered for her graciousness, her smile, her brightly colored clothes and jewelry, for the many cards she sent to commemorate all occasions, and for her devotion to the Detroit Tigers.
