Michael B. McCarthy

McCarthy Michael B. Sr. a resident of Harper Woods die at the age 63 on February 11, 2012 after a long illness. He was born in Detroit, Michigan the son of Francis and Mary(nee Blair). Michael attended Austin High School for two years then went to Grosse Pointe South where he graduated in 1966. He met and married Kathleen(nee Smith) September 15th, 1972 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church Grosse Pointe Park. In 1976 Mike began working for Ray Electric Company and continued working for them for 33 years as a Showroom manager of the Hall Road Store. Michael loved golf, baseball and coaching the Harper Woods Little League for 25 years, winning the City Champoinship three years in a row. His favorite expression of "Rock and Roll Harper Woods" will be fondly remembered by those he coached and those who attended the games. As assistant coach he and his team won the City and State Champoinships in 1988. In the years 1996, 2000, 2001 and 2002 he and his teams won the City Championships. Michael was the beloved husband of Kathleen for 40 years,. loving father of Michael Jr., Patrick (Summer) and Christopher. proud grandfather of Kian and Lily and dear brother of Lena McCarthy Bonnington and the late Ronald. Visitation will be at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack at Vernier Grosse Pointe Woods Monday 1pm until 9pm with a Prayer Service at 7pm. Funeral Service at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 21620 Greater Mack St. Clair Shores Tuesday, instate 9:30am until time of Mass 10am.
