Patricia K. Adler

Patricia Adler led a life full of service to the communities. In 1972, she was elected to the board of directors of Grosse Pointe’s Family Education Council (FLEC). She assisted in training sessions for Dialogue, FLES’s adult helpline. This included FLEC’s first alcohol seminar at St. Johns Hospital. In 1974, she became the director of Harper Woods advisory committee doing probation counseling and pre-sentence investigation of defendants. As director, she was responsible for service training, evaluation, and grading of Macomb County students who received credit hours for their participation. She was certified as a Social Work Technician by the State Board of Examiners of Social Workers. She did comprehensive tours of the Detroit House of Corrections, Ionia training, Wayne County Youth Home, and Milan Corrections. In 1973, she attended her first Transactional Seminar in Evansville, IL. She completed the basic course and was accepted as a Regular Member of the International Transactional Analysis Association. She began teaching Assertiveness Training of the Grosse Pointe Board of Education Community Services Department. In 1974, Patti hosted a luncheon for all the judges, probation officers, court clerks, police chiefs, and attorneys from all the Pointes. Her goal was to expose them to the Alcohol Highway Program. In 1976, she became Chairman of Bon Secour committee for CPR training.

In 1978, she began teaching classes in assertiveness training to the Grosse Pointe Board of Education.

Patricia is predeceased in death by her parents, Ralph and Dorothy Harwood; as well as her cherished husband of 52 years, Kenneth Adler; and William Newmark, and Shirley Schook,. She is survived by her loving children, Linda (Robert Green) Adler, Kim (Nicole Durie) Adler, and Christa Boel. She is also survived by four grandchildren, one great grandchild, and two siblings.
