Robert Charles Eidt

Robert Eidt passed away on March 17, 2016 at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 27, 1950 in Detroit; son of Herbert and Bernice (nee Meloche) Eidt. Bob graduated from Livonia Franklin High School in 1968. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corp. On March 7, 1987, Bob married Pamela Horne at St. James Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe Farms. Bob retired from Sodecia North America Incorporated in 2012 after 26 years. Bob was a private man, known by his family and friends for his feisty character, kind heart and giving spirit. He would do anything for his family and friends. Bob loved traveling and was thrilled that he was able to see Alaska. He also loved golfing, bowling, fishing, camping and sports of all kinds including U of M football, MSU basketball and the Detroit Tigers. Bob also thoroughly enjoyed spending time at home working in his yard. Bob's greatest joy in life was the love he had for his family and treasured the time they spent together. There was also a special place in his heart for his precious kitty, Squirt. He is survived by his wife Pamela. His loving sons sons Jeffery (Angela) Shantz and Robert (Ann Marie) Shantz of whom he was very proud. He adored his grandchildren Erica, Timothy, Joelle, Megan, and Reanna. He will be missed by his sisters Patricia Pilto, Carol Eidt, and Mary Russell. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Herbert Eidt. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 7:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. His family will receive guests beginning at 2:00 pm on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 20450 Civic Center Drive, Southfield, MI 480765.
