Robert (Bob) Jarrett began his journey on October 28th 1936, in Detroit, Michigan. Bob was born to the late David and Edith Jarrett. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister. Bob graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in civil engineering. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and Michigan National Guard. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, he began his career as a Wayne County engineer and retired as the Department of Public Works Director. Bob met the love of his life, Bettye, while they were both working for the county in the late sixties. Married for almost 50 years, they enjoyed traveling the world, working together on their summer farm in northern Michigan and always looked forward to celebrating holidays with their extended family in Alabama. After retirement, Bob loved spending time on Mullett Lake in Indian River, Michigan. For many years during the summer months, you would find Bob on his boat, entertaining his family while cruising across the lakes. An avid outdoorsman, he loved working on his farm, harvesting crops and planting trees. Every fall, Bob derived great pleasure in sitting in the woods, photographing the wildlife and hunting with his dogs. Bob was a patient, honest and dependable leader whose work ethic, both personally and professionally, was not merely satisfied that a job was done, but rather that it was done right. He mentored many and was responsible for successful careers of many young adults around him. Bob never sought fame or fortune for himself, but was a well-respected and accomplished man who blessed many lives. A humble man, Bob Jarrett possessed a wise, strong, and comforting presence. Robert Jarrett made his transition and took flight with the angels surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Bettye Misuraca-Jarrett, three children: Daughters; Maggie and Denise; Son, John; and Grandchildren; Jaime, Jessica, Angela, Stuart, Elizabeth; his beloved puppies and constant companions; Sassy, Teddy and a host of other family members and friends.
