Shawn was a lover of all kinds of music. She had a personal relationship with God, and she joyfully shared the good news of His word with those around her. In her spare time, Shawn enjoyed watching sports, buying shoes as well as socializing with others. Shawn always took pride in her appearance, and would always make sure she coordinated before leaving the house. Shawn’s greatest joy and number one priority in life were her children, of which she invested the majority of her free time.
Three cherished daughters, Janine, Shawnee, and Beatrice, survive her; her mother, Mary Jane Barton; two sisters, Patricia and Jessica; two brothers, Dereck and Barry Jr. as well as numerous extended family and close friends survive her.
Her father, Dereck Glenn Gilbert, precedes her in death.
A visitation for Shawn will be held from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 in A.H. Peters Funeral Home of Grosse Pointe.
