

Walter Chmura passed away on October 3, 2016 at the age of 84. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 7, 1932; son of John and Anna (nee Zboa) Chmura. Walter graduated from Pershing High School in 1950 and received his bachelor degree from the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit. He served our country proudly in the United States Navy. Mr. Chmura was a talented artist specializing in numerous types of art. He was a talented sculpter and painter. He made a career of teaching art to students as well as patient's therapies. Walter also enjoyed fishing and dancing (especially the Polka). He will be remembered for his sweet demeanor and was always smiling. Walter is survived by his sisters Dolores Hartz and Mary Mennel. He will be missed by many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 until 8:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Mr. Chmura will lie instate on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores. Monsignor G. Michael Bugarin will officiate.
