Mr. Weldon Nicholas "Nick" Hendrickson was born on February 19, 1932 in Copper City, Michigan to parents Wilbert "Willy" and Fannie "Blondie") Hendrickson. When Nick was 8 years old he and his family relocated to Madison Heights, and he spent the rest of his life as a proud member of the Metro-Detroit Community. Weldon entered into rest on April 20, 2019 at the age of 87. Nick was a kind man who loved god, his family, and his country. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge he attended Michigan State, receiving a degree in Electrical Engineering. Putting his education to good use Nick started his career designing control panels for several different companies such as IBM and the Waste Water Treatment Plant. Nick spent the nearly 20 years for Giffels Assoc. Company. Where he made many life long friends. He was proud to have attended Michigan State and enjoyed watching their sporting events any chance he could. He was a huge fan of their Basketball team, Football team and Marching Band. While working as an electrical engineer Nick decided to share with his community his love for pasties, the main food group of the Upper Peninsula where he grew up. He opened the first of his three shops in 1982 and named them "Weldons Pasties". Weldons Pasties was a staple of the Metro-Detroit Area for over 37 years! He loved making pasties and put his love into every one he made. As much as he loved baking, he loved the time he got to spend with his customers even more. His regulars would often come to place their orders, and would spend over half an hour catching up and chatting. One of Nicks favorite places to visit was Barnes and Nobel, and spent a large amount of his free time reading. From current events and history to novels and medical books there was nothing that didnt catch his interest. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. Nick is survived by his loving wife of nearly 14 years, Ronda Hendrickson. He is the beloved father of Wayne Hendrickson, Taryn Beck and the twins Mathew(Jennifer) Hendrickson and Melissa (Chuck) Seiter.
