William Ralph Jewell

William Ralph Jewell was born November 30, 1935 and entered into rest March 13, 2014 at the age of 78. William is survived by his neice Jenness Wiegand (Richard) , five great- neices and nephews, Tyler, Ryan, Jason, Lauren, Kaitlyn and also two nephews, David and Howard Anderson. His sister Carolyn Jewell Anderson and parents Ralph and Eleanore predeceased him. Bill obtained his law degree from Wayne Law School in 1959 and continued as a general practitioner of law continuously for the next 54 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Detroit Golf Club for 40 years. He especially enjoyed taking a week off in the winters and renewing friendships with his Detroit boyhood friends, Milton Schulz and John Sinclair at many of the country's finest golfing resorts. Bill also spent several summer and fall weekends at his northern Michigan chalet in Gaylord, Michigan, always taking his golf clubs and trumpet as company . He played trumpet with the Grosse pointe Concert Band for over 20 years and recently with the New Horizons Band in Detroit. Over the years Bill enjoyed attending summer camps at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp near Muskegon, Michigan where he honed his trumpet skills. He received was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Detroit and thereafter transferred to St. James Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe for the next 47 years. He was loved and will be missed by many. Visitation Sunday 12:30 to 9:00 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods 48236. Funeral Monday instate; 9:00 am until time of service 10:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church, 170 McMillan Road, Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan 48236. Revered Scott McKinney will be officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit
