

William S. Sayed, "Bill", died on May 18, 2017 at age 97. He was born to Frances and Anthony Isaia in Rossiter, PA. He was married to his beloved wife, Peggy, until her death in 1995. Their children are the late Joyce Lawrence (Norbert, dec.), Bill (Rosanne, dec.), the late David Sayed Isaia (Barbara), Jim, and Beverly (Joe Hardesty). He was the head of a large and loving family which included 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He had many cherished nieces and nephews, in addition to treasured extended family members and friends. He was a man of strong faith and prayed the Rosary daily. Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and an usher at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church for 60 years. Bill was a successful self-employed barber. At one point in time, he operated three barber shops in Detroit. He enjoyed playing the saxophone and was a member of several swing bands. Bill served in World War II in the United States Army, including the D-Day invasion. His radio communication skills assisted the mission of the 294th Joint Assault Signal Company. The visitation for Mr. Sayed will be from 2:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, May 21, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, with Rosary at 7:00 PM. Mass will be Monday, May 22, 12:00 noon, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, with instate time from 11:30 AM-12:00 noon (at church).
