I last saw him officiating at the funeral of the one and only Muriel Miller. He was simply put, a good man. My eyes froze when I got the news today via an email. I'll never forget how good he was to my family. My regards to all of the Amy clan.

My father in the faith. I will Willie Amye whom I called. "Popi". He always had a hug and an encouraging word. Showed genuine concern for me and my girls. May the Amye family find the strength, courage and endurance to move ahead. Big hugs to you and thank you for sharing such a wonderful person with me.

Willie was such a big part of our lives, definitely a father figure for us...we will miss him dearly.

Dear Family,
I had the pleasure as a manager at Michigan Bell of having Willie in my crew in the early 1970â€™s. He was a hard working man and was a very sharp technician and well respected in the crew. An incident took place very early in his career that I thought would cause him and I to quit. I was training him on removal of phone equipment, sometimes they were due to none payment and customers were not always happy to see you. We went to a multi story apartment building and the buzzer/doorbell was broken. So we knocked hard. Someone several stories up opened a window and shouted for us to go away then quickly slammed the window. We knocked again and this time the window opened and this time the occupant now had a pistol and fired it at us and put a hole in the concrete next to where we were standing. We scrambled out of there called the police and they could not find the man that fired the gun. Needless to say he and I did not quit. He was a terrific man and it was my pleasure to work with and know him.
