Bishop Hazel Beatrice Simmons

Hazel Beatrice (Bean) Simmons was born on February 22,1956,to Claude and Clementine Bean in New Orleans, Louisiana. Known for her radiant smile, generous spirit, love of travel, fashion, and unwavering faith. Hazel touched countless lives with her compassionate heart. She graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School and pursued a career in Early Childhood Development and Healthcare, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and the children she cared for.

Hazel moved to Columbus, Ohio, in 1994, where she continued her journey as a Healthcare Provider and opened her own nursing agency. Later, she returned to childcare, eventually establishing the Columbus

Advanced Learning Academy. Hazel was deeply involved in her community and church, dedicating her time to uplifting others. Her love for helping people was evident in everything she did. Friends and

family often recall her gentle wisdom, and the countless ways she showed up for others in their times of need. She was a devoted mother to six children and shared an unbreakable bond with her family. Hazel is preceded in death by her father, Claude Bean and grandparents, Cora and Louis Perkins and Hazel and Claude Bean Sr. and nephew Samuel Tate.

Hazel leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Edward Simmons her mother, Clementine Bean, her children, Diana(Eric) King. Chrissy Kareem) Cousar, Stephanie (Kevin) Houston, Edward (Kim) Simmons

Jacques Simmons, and Jeremiah (Del) Simmons, her siblings Diane (Jackie) Rowan, Claude (Janice) Bean, Joyce Bean, Michael (Angela) Bean, Joseph Bean. Jacqueline (Samuel) Tate. and Yonder (Dwayne) Bean, 24 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and extended family. Her legacy of love, resilience, and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at True Love Ministries, 1634 Minnesota Ave, Columbus, OH 43211, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment Obetz Cemetery.
