I think of Elise often. I regret not getting to know her in her adulthood, but remember her from her childhood as a comical, kind, and bright individual. She was sweet, and her smile was contagious. I loved getting to see her at Grandmommy’s farm and will always remember the summer I spent a week at Tupper Lake while she and her family were there. Wherever she is resting, I hope there are chippies and peanuts! May her memory be a blessing, and all of those who are missing her continue to see glimmers of her in our world.

I knew Elise very, very briefly. But when I heard recently that she had passed I fell into absolute shock. She had such a beautiful, wonderful spirit and I'm very sad to know I won't have a chance to see my friend again until we reunite one day in the Great Beyond.

I am sharing a picture from a day we spent together at a local bar contest where she won the grand prize despite her own doubts at the beginning of the evening. This is and will always be my favorite memory of her.

If I had one wish, it would be to finish the conversation she and I had started about the history of philosophy, to hear her full thoughts and opinions on the matter. She was a brilliant person and I know she had so much more to say.

I hope and pray that my friend Elise is at peace.

I met Elise several years ago. I was a musician and she was a bartender. She always brightened my day, and she was always very easy to talk to and extremely fun to joke around with. She ended up getting me to play in the bar she worked in, and it ended up being my last performance in the state of Ohio before I moved away. I told her I’d come see her and always told her I would love to see her if she was ever in the area.

We kept in contact occasionally, and I always admired her and was appreciative of the opportunity. Elise was such a stellar person; kind, understanding, and over all, extremely fun to be around.

My deepest condolences to her family, and to every single one of the rest of her friends and people she knew. She will be greatly missed.

This still doesn’t feel entirely real to me. I keep expecting you to come up the stairs at city tavern for your shift or just come in and order a shot or a watermelon white claw. You had a kind and bright soul and the biggest heart. Your love for others and animals was my favorite thing about you. I will miss bonding over being vegetarians together :) I will miss hearing your giggle, it always made me smile when I heard you laugh. I feel honored to have known you and to have been your friend. Elise was one of the brightest souls I’ve ever had the pleasure of crossing paths with. We spent so many nights listening to our favorite bands while closing and I’m so thankful she was my concert buddy. There’s not many people who would willingly dive into a crazy mosh pit with me and she was one of them. A kind, beautiful, smart and funny person to her core. I will miss her forever and love her always.
