

Jan passed peacefully at her home in Florence, KY on January 17, 2025 at the age of 71. Jan was proceeded in death by her parents Irvin and Carol Johnson as well as her two eldest children, Daniel Smith and Maria Sullinger.
Beloved Mother of Jodi Smith and Ivan Smith. She was a proud grandmother to: Brandon, David, Kaytlyn, Nicholas, Emily, Lauren, Logan, Landon, Michael, River, Archer, Delaney, Aindrea, Ava, Bryn, Danielle, Ethan, and Asteronna who brought her immense joy.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children and their families, who will forever treasure the many lessons in love, resilience, and togetherness that she imparted. Born the eldest daughter of Carol and Irvin Johnson, Jan was a cherished sister to Steve (Esther) Johnson , Terri (Nnamdi) Oparanozie, Leigh (Frank) Whatton, Jody (Kevin) Kress, Arnie (Linda) Johnson, and Robyn (Doug) Michel. She held a special role in the family—one defined by responsibility, compassion, and unwavering devotion. She is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Throughout her life, Jan was always there to support her siblings, children, and mother, never hesitating to lend a helping hand and share her love. A woman of great faith, Jan was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith guided her every step, providing her with strength and purpose throughout her life. Her devotion to her family and her faith was evident in everything she did, and she was a true example of Christlike love. Jan had a deep love for animals, and her compassion extended to all living beings. She found peace in their presence and was always a gentle caretaker for them. Her love for flowers brought beauty into her life and the lives of those around her, and she often found joy in tending to her garden or simply enjoying their vibrant colors and sweet fragrances.
In her later years, Jan discovered a passion for art, pursuing watercolor, pottery, and painting. These creative outlets allowed her to express herself in new and meaningful ways, and she took great pride in the beauty she created. Art became a reflection of her inner spirit, filled with the same warmth, kindness, and creativity she offered to those she loved. Jan will always be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family. Her love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and mother was a constant source of strength for all who knew her. She was always ready to help when asked, offering support, comfort, and encouragement. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May Jan rest in peace, embraced by the love of her family and the peace of her faith. She will forever be missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A visitation time will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 10-12:30 pm with a celebration of her life beginning at 12:30 pm at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY 4242 Hoover Rd. Grove City, OH 43123. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
