Karen Christine Ervin, age 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Mt. Carmel Grove City. Known lovingly to many as “Bambi” or “Toad,” Karen was a light in the lives of those who knew her — full of warmth, laughter, and heart.
Karen was born to Owen and Lezona (Mills) Ervin, who preceded her in death, along with her siblings Owen Wesley Ervin Jr., Sarah Faith Mullins, Carole Lezona “Blondie” Ratcliff, John Edwin “Ed” Ervin, and Gary Lee Ervin.
She is survived by her beloved siblings Maryann Johnson and Darrell Houston Ervin, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, dear friends, and former coworkers.
A 1972 graduate of Westland High School, Karen spent many years working in the transportation industry before her retirement. She was known for her generous spirit, love of animals (especially cats), and her unmatched sense of humor. Karen had the kind of laugh that lit up a room — so unforgettable, it was even recognized by comedian Louie Anderson during a performance in Columbus.
Karen was a movie enthusiast who could quote her favorites — Tombstone and Young Frankenstein — word for word. She also found joy and meaning in reading spiritual books, always seeking deeper understanding and connection. Her heart was big, her outlook positive, and her presence comforting to all who were lucky enough to know her.
Private services will be held at a later date. Karen’s memory will forever live on in the love she gave and the laughter she shared.
