Larry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Harris; his son, Jason (Jennifer) Harris; his beloved grandchildren, Avery and Owen Harris, of whom he was a very proud grandpa; and his brother-in-law, Algon (Julie) Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Gaile Harris; his infant son, Michael Harris; and his brother-in-law, Lloyd Simpson.
Larry proudly served his country with eight years of active duty in the United States Army, followed by many additional years with the National Guard. He was a Paratrooper and Army Ranger, roles that reflected his strength, courage, and adventurous spirit. Even outside of military service, Larry continued parachute jumps simply for the joy of it.
Larry’s lifelong passion was model railroading. He especially enjoyed collecting HO gauge trains and belonged to several model railroad clubs, though he had not been active in recent years. He and Linda loved traveling to visit rail yards and ride trains across the country, with the White Pass Railway in Alaska being a favorite. Together, they also traveled overseas, including a meaningful trip to Normandy, and explored much of the United States.
Larry will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, dedicated serviceman, and an enthusiastic railroading hobbyist whose curiosity and sense of adventure never faded.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 9:30-11:30 pm at Schoedinger Grove City 4242 Hoover Rd. with a funeral service beginning at 11:30 am. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery.
