Marilyn J. Koehler, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, with her loving family by her side.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her devoted husband of over 39 years, Arno Koehler; her parents, Walter and Helen Utzinger; and her brothers, Paul (Dora) Utzinger and Harold Utzinger.
She is survived by her son, Jay (Karen) Koehler; her daughter, Gretchen (Kevin) Amore; and her cherished grandchildren, Matt (Olivia) Koehler, Sydney (Isaac) Lohr, and Cassandra Amore.
Marilyn began her working career at State Auto before dedicating herself to raising her family. After her children were grown, she returned to the workforce at the Grove City Public Library, where she later retired. She treasured her time there and the many friendships she formed and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
She found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life — sewing, planting and tending her flower beds, and preparing family favorites like her homemade chicken and noodles and macaroni and cheese. Marilyn loved reading cookbooks, shopping, traveling (especially in search of antique stores), and spending time with her beloved cats. Known for her friendly nature, she seemed to know everyone whenever she was out and about.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Schoedinger Grove City, with her funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Mark Dettmer. Interment will follow at Grove City Cemetery East.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd. SE, Newark, OH 43055. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the caregivers with Hospice of Central Ohio for the compassionate care Marilyn received.
Marilyn will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
